Wicked NOT Dead: A True Blood Fan Fiction Chapter 4

Open up next to you and my secrets become your truth...

REBECCA

Merlotte's was a big old green shack with neon lights in every window and one gigantic namesake sign proped up on the roof. It was surrounded by dirt, gravel and woods. Lots and lots of woods. It was a good thing the place was so brightly lit as they served as a beacon for those who had no idea where they were headed. She had followed the directions Sookie had given her but as she drove down the road towards her destination she wondered who in their right mind put their bar in the middle of nowhere. Of course Bon Temps was kind of in the middle of nowhere so what the hell did she know. Apparently, nothing as she had to park on the side of the road a few hundred feet away from the bar and as she stepped out she looked over at the water and prayed that she hadn't parked her car on quicksand. She threw on her sweater and made sure she girls were sitting as they should and hightailed it towards the lights.
There were several people milling around the parking lot smoking and laughing. A couple of the men stopped and took a look at Rebecca as she walked by. She gave them a slight smile and a nod and then opened the screen door that lead to the main building just barely making it through before it popped her in the ass. The inside was just as bright as the outside and loud. Most of the tables were crammed with people and she noticed that more than a few looked up and over when she came in. A young lithe pale as paper girl appeared before her. Her long perfectly straight orange-red hair was pulled up tight and neat in a high ponytail. Seeing this reminded her of her own youth when her hair had hung all the way down her back. She had loved the way it felt on her bare skin and the calmness that would come over her when she sat on the edge of her bed at night and she or someone else brushed it out.  She touched her own hair running a curl through her fingers, she'd kept it shoulder length or shorter in rounded or blunt cut bobs for years. Maybe it was time to let it grow out again.
The hostess was wearing what had to be the barmaid uniform of black shorts and a tight white tee. Rebecca was sure Mr. Merlotte got a lot of love for this uniform choices but there were no denying that it would bring in business and if the waitress played the cards she had been dealt right, big tips. When the girl spoke it came out in a in a high pitched twang with a back note of giddy bad girl glee. She gave her a wide cashier cat grin which told her that indeed the girl was up to no good.
" Welcome to Merlotte's just one in your party?"
The girl was Vampire and since Rebecca only knew of two vampire residents in Bon Temps the girl before her must be Jessica.  William's progeny. A byproduct of  the theory of wrong place wrong time. She would be young and beautiful forever. Perhaps to young. Rebecca always hated to see the sired, so young. They were trapped forever in a body and mind that would never reach it's full potential. At least Jessica had made it to adulthood and now that vampires were out she would never have to worry about moving from place to place every few years to bypass detection. She supposed that now the curses of the young vampire would be fewer. At least one blessing of the assimilation.
" Good Evening Jessica. I am looking for Miss. Stackhouse she said she would let you know I was coming."
Jessica squealed and slapped herself in the forehead " You must be Rebecca.  I don't know how I didn't recognize you from Sookie's description. I've been waiting all night for you to show up. Bill told me all about you and Sookie strictly forbid me from giving out your booth and you can not believe all the shit I have been getting all night from people who want the damned thing. People can be unbelievably rude when they can't get what they want. Sookie had to go and kick one couple out when they moved from where I sat them. I got the evil eye but shit I can't watch everybody every minute. I got a job to do to ya know? "
She grabbed Rebecca's arm and expertly maneuvered her through the crowd of people to a booth in the back corner. A piece of cardboard had been haphazardly folded and the word RESERVED was crawled across it.  Rebecca moved into the booth smoothing down the back of her dress, before she sat down on the side that looked out over the rest of the bar. Some might not be thrilled about being placed in the back of a place but Rebecca was happy to be located in a way she could see everyone else freely and be sure that she would see anyone looking at her. Jessica hopped down in the seat across from her and put her head in her hands. She said nothing just looked expectedly at Rebecca waiting for her  to speak.
Rebecca had to laugh. " Jessica hun I am not sure what you are wanting me to say right now. I'm intimidated by the idea that you are looking for me to tell you something life affirming. I am not sure what William has told you but I sincerely doubt it warrants such a look of hope" Jessica's face fell just a smig but brightened again quickly.
" Sorry I didn't mean to make you feel like you had to say anything really. It's just that there are so few people around these parts that actually like my kind and Bill tells me you have a whole crew of vampires working for you and that you don't even breath harder when one is near by. She stopped and cocked an ear in my direction. She listened for several seconds to my breathing and then the sound of my heart-beating.
Slapping her hands together and putting them over her face she said " Shit he is right,NOTHING. That is fucking fantastic. I am so used to people turning away or running in the other direction when I come near them. I mean there are a few people around here that are cool. Sookie of course and Sam my boss and then there is my boyfriend Hoyt. She looked behind her and caught the attention of a young man with a crew cut and a shy ahhh shucks look about him. He smiled back at Jessica and tried to give her a discreet wave with his hand at his side. He was sitting at a table full of beer pitchers and in the middle of the fray was a face she recognized. Jason Stackhouse was holding court. Surrounded by admires both male and female he was truly in his element. Being the center of attention agreed with him. He was beaming and she swore she could see the aura of his ego hanging in a bright crimson cloud above all of their heads.
Rebecca got a flash of naughtiness that had happened just before she arrived. It explained the grins on both of their faces. " So I suppose that shy guy over there is the reason for the glow in your cheeks Jessica?"
" Oh yes he is wonderful. We just moved in together. I have never been so happy. It's just to damned much some times you know." Jessica's fangs popped out. She quickly covered her mouth and gave her a muffled apology. She snapped them back up " I just get so excited and I still can't control these damned things sometimes. Another reason people freak out when they see me"
" No worries Jessica. I am a friend of the fanged and have been looking at elongated canines my entire life."
Jessica leaned in close and asked " Have you ever thought about getting a pair of your own?"
" The thought has crossed my mind a time or two but for now I'll stick with the breathing." A couple came in the front door and looked around from behind the bar came a shout " Jessica, front and center"
" Gotta go" She rolled her eyes and stood up "I'll catch you later?" Jessica looked at her hopefully so Rebecca nodded her head and before Jessica could get away she grabbed her hand and gave it a small squeeze. She looked shocked at the unsolicited contact but it pleased her that someone touched her so freely. She could hear Jessica yell to Sookie that she was there but it was still several minutes before she saw the buxom blond come into view. She held a tray of food in one hand and a pitcher of tea in the other. She sat the tea down on the top of a booth and distributed the food. She smiled the entire time and made sure everyone had what they needed before she headed over to Rebecca's table.
" Hey Rebecca glad you could make it. Freaking figures the place would be a mad house on the one night I need it to be dead. Can't really chat right now with all these tables. I told Sam you were coming and he was like GREAT just don't ignore the rest of the customers. So now that he knows you are here he will be watching me like a hawk. You want something?"
She hadn't had a chance to look at the menu but she was ravenous. " A tall glass of that tea and waitresses choice. Whatever you think would knock a hungry girls socks off." Sookie gave her a look that said you might live to regret this and then marched off to get her that tea. She went by each of her tables as she went and then disappeared around the corner.
Alone for the moment Rebecca glanced around her. She saw Tara behind the bar giving the eye to a medium sized man with shaggy light brown hair and a beard, Just a touch of grey had begun to peak through around his ears and on his chin. He was giving her his sexiest undercover grin and from the thoughts running through both of their heads Rebecca knew that the line between boss and employee had been compromised. Often and very recently on the very bar in which they were standing behind. Rebecca blushed, images of someone else's sex life was the last thing she needed to be seeing at the moment so she switched gears quickly. She saw a couple of cops sitting together in a booth discussing the days cases. One of them, the boss she figured gave her a side eye look every now and again.
She saw a frazzled frizzed bottled redhead waitress who was running around like a chicken with her head cut off. Every time she had a free hand it would find it's way to her stomach and Rebecca could see her sweat dripped with worry. She was pregnant and not happy about it. The babies daddy was far from a suitable sperm donor and she couldn't help but fear the apple would not fall far off the tree. She had tried to do something to end it.
Rebecca saw a flash of a face and a night not long ago in the woods. Rebecca scanned the room trying to spot it. The woman was not in the there but she fancied herself a witch. Interesting, she wasn't aware of other witches even fledgling ones such as the unhappy waitress's partner in crime were living in the area. Was she part of a coven or just a solitary? Something to look into.
Sookie came back with her tea and the promise of something that wouldn't kill her and flew off again check on her tables. Rebecca leaned back in the booth and sipped her tea. No one in this place was particularly threatening but they all had their guards up in one way or another. She smiled at everyone who looked her way and tried to look inviting. If this was going to be her home she had to at the very least be cordial to everyone. The frazzled waitress bounded over to her table and laid a beer in front of her.
Her name tag said she was Arlene " This.... is from Jason."
She marched off without looking back thinking "Ah hell another redhead.. why do they keep showing up around here?" She gave Jessica a dirty look as they crossed paths. Jessica responded by sticking her tongue out at Arlene's retreating back. Apparently until recently Arlene had had a ginger monopoly. She didn't like people encroaching on her turf. Well she was going to have to find another hook cause this redhead wasn't planning on going anywhere and from the looks Jessica kept shooting Hoyt she was sticking around for a while to. Rebecca tipped the beer at Jason and purposefully placed her mouth on the bottle taking a long slow swig. He had been waiting for her attention to be drawn to him and he was smiling from ear to ear. He gave her a wink and tipped his own beer in her direction. He was thinking of leaving his entourage and come chat her up but just at that moment Sookie returned this time with a Cheeseburger and Fries.
" Sorry I know it's not original but I don't want you coming after me if you end up with rock gut" She took a bottle of Ketchup and Mustard out of the pockets of her apron and placed them in front of her.
" No worries this suits me just fine. I am sure it will be fabulous." She grabbed the mustard and ketchup and went to town doctoring the food to her liking.
Sookie sat down across from her with a thud " Sam can kiss my ass. I gotta fifteen minute break coming and I'm gonna take it."  Rebecca pushed the beer across the table and silently told Sookie "It looks like you need this more than me" with a cocked eyebrow Sookie grabbed it and tossed it back sending back her own muted "Thanks
"You liking it so far? Being here in Bon Temps? she said aloud.
" So far so good. The house is keeping me busy and I have a bunch of other stuff on my plate but yeah. It seems like a nice enough little town. My Grandfather was quite fond of it." She took a big bite of her burger before Sookie could ask her next question. The burger was juicy and had so much stuff on it she had to jump back from the plate to keep from getting it all over herself. Perhaps she should ask for a bib.
" Don't mind me Sookie keep the questions coming but get to the point cause you only have thirteen minutes left and shaggy over there is already giving you the evil eye." Sookie turned to give Sam a "WHAT" and then back at her. Sookie started with rapid fire,
"What are you?"
" A witch"
Sookie squinted her eyes " Wicked witch of the West or Gilenda?
" Depends" Rebecca popped a fry.
" On what?"
" If your friend or foe. I am a white witch and use my gifts for good but I have had my moments. Great big dark moments she thought.
"When my back was up against the wall. or it was a matter of life or death. Those situations can call for drastic measures" Rebecca took another bite of burger and hoped Sookie wouldn't ask for examples of her dark-side.
Sookie thoughts leaned toward the stereotypical imagery of witches, of double double toil and trouble, flying around on broomsticks and black cats. Lastly they settled on a time long ago where woman hung from gallows for nonexistent crimes. Sookie realized her fopa looked at Rebecca with worried eyes and said.
" Oh hell Rebecca I'm sorry I forgot" her voice trailed off..
" No worries Sookie I'm quite fond of black cats" Rebecca gave Sookie a wry smile and motioned with her hand to continue.
" So you can read minds?"
" Yes but not like you. You have to work to shut them out. I can turn it off and on. I don't have to worry about people invading me all the time."
" Really? How?" Sookie looked skeptical.
"My gift was acquired." Now she looked confused. "The ability was in me but not like you. I had to learn it. I have also learned to turn it off.. Yours came natural. It was a part of the very fabric of your being". Rebecca bit into a fry  " Of course being part Fae helps as well"
" So I'm stuck with it?" Sookie looked defeated.
" Sookie I think you have always known there was no getting rid of your abilities. In fact they are growing all the time. My suggestion is that you do the best you can to embrace them and use them to protect yourself"
Sookie whispered "When I get really mad or if I'm in danger firecrackers shoot out of my hands and zap people. That is not normal. Even for me" She sighed and sunk down into the booth. " I'm tired of all this shit. All I wanted was a regular life and all I keep getting is more and more....SHIT"
" I am sure it is quite the pain in the ass. I've been known to do strange things with my hands as well so I sympathize."
Sookie gave her a look that said I don't like to be mocked
" I am serious Sookie. As grew up and worked on my craft I often learned about my strengths and abilities by accident. Things blew up, disappeared and where changed forever. Bottom line Sookie, shit happens and so far you have only used your new found power for the destruction of evil right?
" So far, but I'm scared I'll haul off and zap someone round here if they piss me off" She flicked her head over her shoulder.
" I don't think that will happen but I will see what I can find that may help you. I have some research on the Fae but it's still packed away at the moment and we can work on controlling your power if you'd like?"
" Thanks I'd appreciate any help I can get" She gave Rebecca a smile but left out the part about her fairy godmother and the big pool of water leading to another world in the graveyard.
Rebecca closed her eyes and shook her head. She really didn't want to know. Sometimes it was just better to stay ignorant.
" You see any more of Bill?" despite everything Sookie still ached to know about her former lover. A vampires hold could be unbreakable.
" No but has been around." Mason had mentioned he'd come by after she had retired for the evening wanting to be of help and to put his hands to good use.
"I plan on asking him to the barbeque on Sunday. I hope that you will be okay with that?" She knew it wouldn't be pleasant for Sookie but she had no intentions of excluding William from the festivities if he wanted to come.
" I ain't gonna lie it will hurt like hell to see him but I guess I gotta get used to it right? We may not be a couple anymore but we still gotta live in the same place. He's your neighbor just as much as I am so I understand why you'd invite him" Emotion started to swell in Sookie's face. Rebecca reached across the table and gave Sookie's hand a pat.
" I believe he will keep his distance. I don't know the particulars of what happened between you two but I know you are both in pain. I hope that you can find a way to co-exist." Sookie seemed surprised she didn't know what had happened between her and William.
"Like I said Sookie I can turn it off. You feel guilty when you run around in other peoples heads right? Sookie reacted in the affirmative. " Well sufficed to say so do I. I always get feelings and emotions but not always the root cause of them. Besides I want to build a relationship with both of you and eavesdropping and hounding you about your private lives would not exactly endear me now would it?" Sookie shook her head and tried to laugh off the tears forming in the corner of her eyes. She inhaled deeply and changed the subject.
" How 'bout Alcide? He looked like he was getting on with things when I was there yesterday. He looked happy to be working and had nothing but nice things to say about you" Rebecca's mind went right to Alcide's face in the car earlier. She squirmed a bit in her seat. Thinking of him made her entire body tingle like it was waking up after a long sleep.
" It's only been two days but I have to say I couldn't have asked for more in a group of men. They dug right in and Alcide has tight control over things. I was lucky to have found him. I am thankful to you for your part in that" Rebecca gobbled up the last bite of burger and then grabbed her tea taking a big gulp.
" I think he may be kind of sweet on you" Rebecca nearly choked, she sputtered and coughed " Did you go into his head Sookie?"
" Yes" she said remorsefully, " I went in looking for something else and instead I found you. You got him sprung and he doesn't know what to do about it." Sookie her break now over got up from the booth.
" If you like him you should go for it. He's a great guy. One of the good ones"  Sookie was giving her blessing. She had had her moment with Alcide and while she had thoughts of someday she knew that she was in no position to make him wait. They had known each other just a little while longer than he and Rebecca had and he had been through a lot. He deserved to find a girl who would treat him right. His Ex Debbie was a grade A piece of work and if being with Rebecca meant he wouldn't go back to that bitch then Sookie was all for it.
" I couldn't agree more Sookie" she sent a silent thank you as Sookie went back to work.
Now done with her dinner and her conversation with Sookie it was time to get to the main purpose of why she was here tonight. So she got up from her booth and started talking to people. From table to booth she introduced herself to everyone in the bar. She'd sit down with the more inviting and let them ask her questions and made inquires of her own. She smiled and laughed and was charming. She reeled it in for the woman and let it all hang out for the men. She held her tongue when people voiced concerns about Mason and his crew. She tried, mostly in vain to reassure them that there would be no problems with anyone working for her. She watched Sam watching her progress from behind the bar. Slowly the scowl on his face relaxed and he went back to pouring drinks and helping the waitresses out with orders. He wasn't sure what to think of Rebecca. When he had heard of her arrival he had gone out to her place to check things out for himself. A house full of vampires at night and a house being run by a Were during day made him uneasy. Rebecca found his objections rather ironic considering that most people would think the same things of him if they knew his secret.
Being in the otherworldly closet made some rather bitter and unforgiving. Sam wasn't normally like this but his recent quest to fill in the blanks in his past had left him untrusting and filled with anger. He had thought he'd buried his dark-side and now he was having to relive parts of himself that he'd rather have left hidden. When she got to Jason's side of the bar she gave him a wink but didn't go up to his table first. Instead she made her way around him saving his group as her very last stop. Once there she quickly introduced herself and then with the snap of her foot kicked a chair several inches away from the table. She gently grabbed a flummoxed Hoyt by the chin and asked him to give her a hand up. He lifted her up with no effort and stood next to her his hand firmly on the back of the chair. He didn't want her to fall. She turned to Jessica who was standing by the front door and mouthed, He's a keeper. Which made Jessica beam and forget all about sinking her teeth in Rebecca's neck.
Rebecca put her fingers between her lips and let out a long loud whistle. The music on the jute-box kept playing but the rest of the bar went silent.
" Good evening everybody. I believe that I have introduced myself to everyone here but in case I have missed anyone I am Rebecca Keane and I am your new neighbor. I apologize for interrupting your dinners and your nightcaps but I wanted to take a minute to invite you all to Belle Vita on Sunday for a back yard barbeque and pool party. The party will start at 3pm and go well into the evening and everyone is invited so be sure to pass this invitation on to everyone in town.
Someone behind her yelled out " Will there be free booze?" she figured that that while it hadn't come from Jason's mouth the comment was surely of his making.
" Wouldn't be a party without it" Several cheers went up around the bar.
" Oh and one last thing. Tonight everything is on me" This time everyone made noise and the all of the waitresses looked over at her with distain. She sent Sookie an plea for understanding and a promise that it would be worth their wild.
Jason now stood on the other side of her chair and he bumped it just enough to put her off balance. With a squeal she toppled into his waiting arms. It was a cheesy but effective way of getting her attention and of course bringing the attention in the room back to himself. There was more clapping and whistling.
Hoyt stood frozen his hand still on the chair. He couldn't believe Jason had done it. What if she had fallen? She could have been hurt. Sometimes his best friend could be a complete dick. She gave Hoyt a reassuring smile and turned her attention to herself. Disheveled, her first thought was to make sure she wasn't flashing everyone, one hand went rushing to her chest to insure there was no nip slippage. Relived that everything was as it should be her gaze fell to Jason.
Of course he had a huge shit eating grin on his face and of course this infuriated Rebecca.
" Put me down Stackhouse."
He just held her tighter and gave her ass a rough squeeze. She reached down and grabbed the hand sending a searing pain up his shoulder and down his leg. With a yelp of his own he let her go. Her feet hit the ground hard but with one arm still around Jason's neck she managed to stay upright. Next time she'd save the revenge for when she was out of danger herself.
She was now completely untangled from Jason but before she could get away he reached for her arm.
"Ah come on now Rebecca don't be pissed. Come have a drink
with me" She shot him a look that said he needed to back off.
" Not now Jason." He let go of her arm and with his hands to his chest like he had been wounded he staggered back to his chair and retook his thrown. His gaze never left her retreating back even as all his buddies started joshing him about getting dissed by the the new hottie. He was only thinking of his next move and how one way or another Rebecca would be going home with him tonight.
Rebecca had a few more bits of business to attend to before she left for the evening. She walked over to the bar where all of the ladies were standing. She gave Tara a nod and placed a wad of money in her tip jar. Tara's eyes got big and she cleared her throat to get the others attention. They all looked up and over to what Tara's head was pointing them to.
" Are you for real?" She said as she grabbed the money out of the jar.
" No doubt" Rebecca replied and pulled three more folded set of bills out of her bag. She slid one to Jessica who was the closest one to her and then placed on in each of Sookie's and Arlene's aprons. Terri that evenings chef stood in the kitchen window watching the action. She walked over to him and held out her hand.
" My compliments to the chef. Best burger I've had in ages." Dumbfounded Terri reached his hand out the window and when he took hers he found a palm full of money all his own.
She turned back to the ladies who still looking at her.
" Now I know this seems like I am buying your acceptance and you would be partially correct. But I figured that, that" She pointed at the money in Tara's hand " was the very least I could do considering. Now I'm gonna ask you for two more things. One which way to Sam?" Sookie pointed down the hall and gave her mental directions
" Thank you Sookie" She gave them all a little wave and took two steps down the hall before Jessica called out.
 " What's the other thing?"
" Oh yes sorry. The other thing is quite simple. I don't want any of you to mention this" She waited as each of them put the money back into their pockets and then went to find Sam.
She found the door that Sookie had told her Sam would be behind and gave it a hard knock. From behind the wood came a gruff " Come in."
She opened the door took a few steps inside. Sam was sitting at his desk looking but not really seeing the paperwork in front of him. He looked up and saw her standing there and let out a sigh " How can I help you Miss. Keane."
Rebecca not de-swayed by his ill temper took a seat in a chair in front of him. He eyed her as she got comfortable in the chair adjusting her sweater and placing her bag in between her and the arm of the chair.
" Now Mr. Merlotte I do not believe for one moment that you wish to start off our acquaintance with that tone. You are not a inhospitable man for the most part or you wouldn't have such a successful business." She waved her hands around the room and Sam's face went blank.
" Rebecca right?" He was being coy.
" Sam Right?" she could do the same.
He gave in then pulling himself up from his chair and reaching over the desk he held out his hand. " Nice to meet you Rebecca."
She took his peace offering " Same here Sam."
" That was quite a show you put on in there. You know how to work a room." his look was appreciative and genuine. " Performed quite a feet of magic considering the talk the last few days." Rebecca didn't think Sam's comment was a veiled play on words. It was just a ironic turn of phrase used to complement and keep the conversation going in a friendlier direction.
" Why thank you. Figured I'd gotten off to a bit of rocky start. The whispers came down my drive and I hope that by coming in tonight I'll squash them a bit"
Sam chuckled "  I wouldn't be betting on that. You just gave them all more to talk about" With some of his recent antics Sam was more than grateful to have someone else be talked about.
" Well at least now they have a face to go with the rumors and innuendo." She pretended to draw a big bulls eye on her face. Sam smiled and shook his head. All that and a since of humor he thought. Rebecca had begun to wonder if he was made of stone. Not a glance or a gaze or a single hint that he was male. Vain as it was she was glad to know he had indeed taken notice.
" Sam I don't want to keep you, so I'll get down to what you can do for me" She reached into her bag and pulled out an envelope. " This is for the house. It should cover everyone's tabs and then some" He took it and looked inside touching the bills with his fingers he nodded his head.
" I also hope that you and your entire staff will join me on Sunday. So I'd like to compensate you for closing down the bar for the night. You let me know what you'd normally take in that evening and I'll get it to you"
" Appreciate that and this" He held up the envelope " But we normally closed on Sunday anyhow. I'll be looking forward to that free booze the rest of the week"  He grinned at her.
" Well then I will see you on Sunday" Rebecca stood.
" You enjoy that paperwork" She gave him one last smile and headed to the door. Holding on to the door she turned back.
" Just one more thing Sam last Tuesday night my cat Emmy got out and while I was looking for her I saw her being chase by a beige and white collie. Some of the folks inside said you might know something about him" Sam pen frozen in his hand gulped and nodded,
" Yeah I think I know the dog your talking about. He hangs around here sometimes"
" Well if you know who owns him could you give him a message?"
" I'll see what I can do" Sam was turning gray.
" Tell them that I am a animal lover and would never want to hurt their dog in anyway but if he ever comes onto my property again and chases one of my girls through the forrest until they are scared so shitless they shed half of their fur all over my trailer I'll fill his ass with buckshot." She gave a little wave and closed the door behind her.
The look of Sam's petrified face embedded in her brain. Man how she loved doing that to people. She was rejoicing in her own bad girl glee and didn't notice someone in the hall with her. A few steps away leaning against the wall was Jason. He had been trying to look nonchalant but since she doubted he was waiting there to see Sam it looked anything but.
"Well hello Stackhouse you waiting to see Sam? She took a few steps down the hall " I think he is available to see you know."
Jason said nothing just stepped in front of her blocking her way. She tried to maneuver her way around him but he countered her every move and soon she found herself up against the wall he had just vacated. He put his arms up on the wall and leaned into her.
" You are totally fuckable you know that." His eyes reminded her of tigers eye, brown with golden strips running through them and in that moment they shined with lecherous thoughts and the hope of conquering new territory. Jason the explorer leaned in even closer pressing his body against hers and breathed in deeply.
" Smell great to." Jason was at the very least tipsy. His eyes had started to redden in the corners and he held his words a bit longer than a sober man would.  She knew she should have gotten the hell out of there but she didn't move. He may not be the most subtle man in the world and his choice of words left something to be desired but the way he was looking at her made her hungry for something other than food. She felt her inner animal rattle it's cage. Leave it pinned in to long and it will surely take the first opportunity to get it's needs feed. She wasn't prone to meaningless encounters even with men as fine as Jason but if she didn't get out of his gaze soon she'd melt into a big old puddle on the floor. He gave her some wattage, a cocky grin filled with more innuendo than any words could say and then he grabbed her face with both of his hands and planted his lips to hers.
She put her hands on his chest to push him away but when the tip of his tongue touched the spot in the middle of her lips, soft and probing she stopped and grabbed on to him kissing him back. She wasn't sure it would have mattered who was in that hall with her because something inside of her snapped and she didn't want to stop it. She tried not to think about that or anything for that matter, she just held on tightly as Jason's soft lips kissed her over and over. He tasted like beer and tequila and smelled of Irish Spring soap. She noticed his hands were hot as scratchy as they made there way round to any and all flesh they could reach.
She rapped her arms around his neck and he pushed her even closer to the wall raising one of her legs to his waist. He worked her dress up so he could touch the bare flesh of her thigh. He drew soft circles upward until he reached her panties and waited until he was sure she wasn't going to stop him before he slipped his hand inside. She jumped just a little which gave him more leverage, but instead of going where she thought he was headed his hand moved to her ass. He grabbed a handful and kneaded it between his fingers moving his kisses from her lips down her chin and then buried his face in her neck. He lapped and sucked at the tender skin below her ear but stopped just short of biting her.
She sighed but didn't want to think of things that had come next with others so she lifted his head back to her face by grabbing a fistful of hair pulling his head backward. This excited him further and with a grunt his lips meet hers again and he started to rock his body back and forth into her. The sound of footsteps coming down the hall called her attention to the fact that she was getting dry humped against a wall in a    public place and this time she managed to push Jason away.
He groaned and tried to grab her again but this time she pushed him down the hall a few steps into the mens room. One look at Jason and everyone would know what the hell had been going on in that hallway. He has sex written all of his face and a huge hard on sticking up in his pants.
Rebecca slipped into the ladies room just as someone came around the corner and bee-lined her way into a stall. She sat down and tried to calm her racing heart and the fire springing from the bottom half of her body. Holy hell she thought. What the hell was she doing? She used her bag to fan herself off and when the person who followed her into the bathroom left she stood and walked and over to the sink. She splashed cold water on her face and brushed out her hair. She reapplied some lip gloss over her now deeply reddened and newly raw lips and stepped back out into the hall. Jason was again standing there no worse for wear with a big grin on his face.
" Tease" he said.
" Exhibitionist" she called back hitting him in the chest with the her hand. When he reached for her she sidestepped him with a " Ohhhhh No I don't think so. Not again buddy"
She took him by the arm and then pushed him back out into the bar. " You owe me a proper drink."
She figured being back out in the thick of things would calm him down and she needed to get her wits about her. Being anywhere alone with Jason Stackhouse right now was not a good idea. They sat down at the bar in front of Tara who gave her a knowing look and she just shot her a " You don't have to tell me" look in return.
" Tara two shots of tequila if you please" Jason had turned around in his stool to make faces at his boys. She gave him a pop in the gut with her fist which sent his stool spinning back around and got laughs from everyone behind her. Tara sat two shot glasses in front of her and stopped just short of pouring the liquid from the bottle. She asked Rebecca if she was sure and she nodded tapping the top of the glass. She downed hers before Jason's had even been poured. She tapped the glass and Tara again poured this time giving her a "your getting into this shit all by yourself" glance leaving the bottle sitting in front of her.
She downed another shot and Jason let out a hoot next to her. " Girl can down her liquor."
She smirked at Jason and poured herself another shot downing that one to. It had been a while since she had drank tequila but three shots seemed to have no effect on her. Soon she was going one for one with Jason's entire crew. With each shot Jason became more touchy feely and Rebecca became less and less capable of keeping him at bay. Sookie came over at one point to tell her brother to knock it off and to ask her if she needed any help. She had shaken Sookie off then but eventually she realized she risked being taken right there on the bar in front of everyone. Jason's hands were not worried about what they touched, squeezed or slapped and her mind was no longer functioning. Luckily the twosome were surrounded and not everyone in the bar could see what was going on.
She silently called Sookie who went to get Sam and within a minute he appeared before her. He gently took her off the stool and while Tara and Sookie distracted Jason helped her out of his sight line. She looked around the room and her eyes focused a man sitting where she had sat earlier. He was watching her intently and his steely gaze sent a shiver up her spine.
" You okay?" Sam asked
She turned her face to Sam and asked " Who is the man sitting in my booth?" Sam looked over.
" Never seen him before."
Something.....  There was something but she couldn't quite put her finger on what it was but when she tripped on the first foot of dirt outside the bar she decided it might be best to concentrate on getting home in one piece. She was in no position to drive so she gratefully climbed into the cab of Sam's truck and without any direction he headed back to Belle Vita.
She put her head against the doorframe and watched the the side of the road as it passed by.
" You got a bit in over your head in there?" Sam kept his gaze at the road but she could feel his empathy for her. She just nodded her head and closed her eyes.
" Not going to be sick are you?" This time she shook her head.
" You loose your power to speak?"
She smiled and turned her gaze from the roadside to Sam. " NO I can still speak just figured it might be better not to. Don't want to do or say anything else stupid tonight."
" Ah hell you think your the first woman to get drunk in a bar? With Jason no less?" his thoughts told her it clearly was not and that it had gone further than that on more than one occasion.
" So what your saying is that I'm not all that special so I should get over myself?"
" No Rebecca" He thought she was special. He wasn't sure what it was but he knew there was something there " I just don't think you should beat yourself up over a few shots of tequila. You asked for help before things went to far didn't you?" Sam thought about the noises he had heard but not investigated outside his office. He ran his hand through his hair and watching him do this she was reminded of Alcide. With a wave of her hand she brushed the thought of him from her mind.
" Yes I detangled myself before it went to far" She said it in the hopes of convincing herself just as much as Sam. She turned her eyes back to the road.
They drove the remainder of the way in silence. Sam glancing over at her ever minute or two wanting she supposed to say something else but she was to drunk to go into his head to see what it was. When they arrived in front of the trailer he got out to open her door and she flicked off her shoes before hopping out. Attempting stairs in her state in wedges was probably not a good idea. He followed her up the steps and waited as she opened the door to the trailer.
" Thank you Sam for the ride and the save" He was an incredibly sweet man who got shitted on more often than not for being that way.
" No problem." He headed back to his truck and before he got in called out " Drink some water and take some aspirin and I will see you on Sunday" He hoped inwardly that she would recover by then.
She watched as he drove away and then a voice called to her from the house. Mason stood on the porch looking at her. Within moments he was standing before her.
" Rebecca Alexandria Keane are you drunk?"
" Blotto" she said simply.
" How wonderful" Only Mason would be thrilled she came home stone cold drunk.
" Means that you had a nice time tonight." He looked down the road. " Who was the good looking two natured man who drove you home?" Mason wiggled his eyebrows at her. He had longed for the day when she would let go just a little. His friend had kept all her light under a bushel for a very long time.
" That was Sam, the collie that was chasing Emmy and he owns Merlottes and no eyebrow shaking, nothing happened there."
"There indeed" Mason having felt everything she had in that hallway he evilly grinned at her. " But whomever had you up against that wall was doing a number on you. "
Hadn't felt those feeling coming from you in a while" Amused by himself he said. " Well not unless they were self inflicted"
For an evolved man Mason could be quite vile at times.
" Fuck off and get back to work" She threw one of her heels at him which he dodged with no problem and headed back to the house.
"Now...Now.... you've been bad enough for one night. Quit while you are ahead."
He was to busy laughing and did not see the other one coming. It hit him in the back of the head. He turned and flashed a fang while she flashed a finger, then jumped into the trailer just in case he decided to bite her.
After a few seconds she felt Mason slip away with a promise to pay her back later. She walked into the kitchen. Turning on the light two green eyes blinked back at her from the countertop.
" Emmy whatever are you doing on the counter?" She shooed her off with a meowed protest and looked around. Food or drink she thought. Both. She went to the fridge and pulled out some salsa and grabbed a bag of chips and a bottle of water out of the cabinets. She sat indian style on the couch and set to munching.
For several minutes she sat bobbing her head while chopping down on chip after chip thoroughly enjoying the spicy fire growing in the back of her throat. Only thing missing a nice cold Corona with lime. She chugged the water instead and stopped when there was a knock on the door. Mason she called " Nope, not me I got my ass back to work" came back to her. He refused to clue her in on who it was.
" Who the hell is it then" She said aloud. Her mind thought of a few possibilities non of which were dangerous or Mason would have been outside with whomever it was in a headlock. She had settled in her mind who she hoped it would be only to open the door to find out it wasn't him. Instead Jason Stackhouse stood in her open doorway. The half drunk bottle of tequila in his hand and a great big grin on his face. Rebecca knew then and there that there was no going back. Tonight she was going to be a very bad girl.
Jason Stackhouse fucked like he walked, fast and with a lot of hip. How Rebecca found herself out on her deck spread out on the wooden table she wasn't quite sure. She had mistakenly thought that going outside would be a deterrent of some sort but why she thought that now, she wasn't sure. She had known from the moment she opened the door how the night would end and after a few attempts at small talk and a half hearted apology for his actions at Merlotte's he had walked over to where she sat picked her up and put her on top of the table.
They had picked up precisely where they had left off and now her ass was quickly gathering splinters and she was finding new possibilities in the jackhammer method of sex. Mind you it was not her first choice but since Jason actually held a jackhammer in his hands a time or two he knew exactly how to use it and would start and stop and maneuver his bits to all the right places. She raised her back off the table as Jason poured some of the tequila on her stomach and sucked it off . Everything was tongue and hands and the fast paced in and out of his thrusts. He grabbed her hips and pulled her closer to the edge of the table. She inhaled as the pain went through her backside and then again when that sensation was replaced by the ever increasing pleasure growing between her legs. She told him to keep going and not to stop and so he sped up and when the orgasm released itself and went sailing through her she clamped her hands to the sides of the table and cried out. It had been a long time and she had almost forget how fucking fantastic it could be. She felt Jason climax to and then go lax laying his head on her stomach and breathing hard. They stayed like that for a while. She could feel Jason's penis twitching on her leg and each time it did she'd receive an aftershock of her own.
Every one made her jump just enough for Jason to notice and he would laugh and place kisses on her stomach. He started rubbing his hands across the skin of her sides and when she lifted her head to look at him he was staring straight up at her THAT look growing once again in his eye.
"Oh no" she removed his hands, gave his head a toss and lifted herself up " I don't think so Stackhouse."
He stood in front of her balls blowing in the breeze his arms behind his head. Her aversion to a second go didn't phase him a bit" I got to piss where's your head?"
He didn't bother to wait for her. Just grabbed his clothes and walked inside the house.
Rebecca slowly got off the table. She gave her rear a little rub checking it for chunks of wood. That was going to hurt her more in the morning than the alcohol and sex combined. She reached down to pick her dress up from the bench. Once in hand she pulled it over her head. From behind her came a recently familiar scent and the howl of a lone wolf. She froze and clamped her eyes shut. Please Goddess Please she begged do not let it be him. When she looked out she caught sight of him in the woods to her right. A glimmer of white with golden patches bathed in a landscape of blackened night. He was a strikingly beautiful wolf not unlike another she had known many years ago but she knew if she got closer there would be one significant difference. Instead of sea green this wolves eyes would be a rich chocolate brown. Eyes that she has seen in her dreams since she was a small child.
She now knew why she reacted to him as she had. She now knew he was the one she had been waiting for. Alcide who had sat silent and still suddenly sprang to life. He ran past her in a blur, the sound of his paws hitting the dirt hard as if he was running from a hidden foe. She knew he had seen more than he should, perhaps he had seen everything. She couldn't have known he would be there. She owed him nothing but felt ashamed of herself all the same.
Inside she heard Jason rummaging around in the kitchen. She needed to get him out of there. It was time for him to go. She was tired and her buzz and the afterglow had faded completely. As she went inside she heard one more howl echoing through the dark.

* while Alcide's eyes are described as green in the books I have chosen to go with the color of the man who plays him on TV for my story.
