The Academy Awards : The Night in Fashion

Award season is just as much about who everyone is wearing as who goes home the winner. Here are a few highlights and low lights of the Oscar Fashion Red Carpet.

BEST DRESSED:
These are the woman in that my opinion that just got it right. I have seen most on other best dressed lists and a couple have been on both sides of the fence. They hit me in all the right places and that is what counts.
1. Cate Blanchett in Givenchy Couture
Always fashion forward she rarely falls to impress me.
I adore her for taking chances and knowing fashion.
2. Natalie Portman in Rodarte
Another red carpet fashionista who has accentuated
her ever growing baby bump perfectly

this award season.

3. Gwenyth Paltrow in Calvin Klein
She shimmered  and shined in a silver column dress
before taking the stage to sing the nominated song
from Country Strong.
4. Mila Kunis in Elie Saab.
My best dressed at the SAG awards hits her mark
yet again in this lavender gown. Mila has made a
name for herself this red carpet season.
5. Anne Hathaway in Valentino
Anne changed eight times during the course of
the evening. This vibrant red bustled Valentino
was the first. ( my second favorite) You can see
all eight looks in my Oscar recap blog.

BEEN THERE DONE THAT/ SITTING ON THE FENCE
None of these woman would ever be considered badly dressed but there was just something about these looks that bored me or was just not right.

The ladies who look lovely but make me feel Deja Vu. I've seen this same look and feel to what they wear on the red carpet time and time again. Lets try something not so familiar next time shall we!
Michelle Williams in Chanel

Hilary Swank in Gucci
Reese Witherspoon in Armani Prive
Halle Berry in Marchesa
The ladies who had something about their look that gave me pause...

Amy Adams in L'Wren Scott
Liked the dress LOVED the jewelry. Didn't like them
together. Put up your hair and take off the necklace.

Jennifer Hudson in Versace
Great color! Hate the inside side boobs. Your proud
of your new body. GOT IT! Now put those away!!

Jennifer Lawrence in Calvin Klein
Red HOT ingenue but the dress just isn't
" enough" for the Oscars.

Scarlett Johansson in Dolce and Gabbana
I can't quite put my finger on this one. I have
looked at this picture more than any other. I don't
hate it but I can't make myself love it either.

THE WORST DRESSED:
The woman who should have taken one more look in the mirror before heading down the Red Carpet.

Melissa Leo in Marc Bouwer
It is a shame that she won an Oscar and
was photographed incessantly in a giant
doily.
Nichole Kidman in Dior.
She gave me hope with a few things she'd worn
in the weeks leading up to the Oscars. I
found myself disappointed.
Sharon Stone in Dior
I think goth has a age limit
Penelope Cruz in L'Wren Scott
She just had a baby so bravo for getting up
and putting on a red carpet look. Wish it had not
BEEN THIS!!!

Helena Bonham Carter in Colleen Atwood
It is sad to say that this is understated for
Helena but it truly is. She looks like a million
bucks here in comparison to her usual choices.
