Current Obsessions: Vol 1 Spring 2011

Here are a few my current obsessions. Things that have caught my eye, are inspiring me, making me smile and wishing for gigantic sales. The music is already on my Ipod, the books on the shelf and dates have been made for the movies opening days. I will be eyeing the accessories and hopefully they will be making their way into my closet by summer.

MUSIC...

Set fire to the rain by Adele. If you have not gotten the Adele 21 CD I insist that you do so. She, Sara Bareilles and Natasha Bedingfield's newest CD's are currently on heavy rotation. I chose Set Fire to the Rain as an obsession as it is one of the songs on the story I am writing character's play list. It fits the mood of the two main characters relationship.

The Light by Sara Bareilles is another song on my character play list. Sara's music has been used several times on The Vampire Diaries and while I already knew and had a few of her songs it was the usage of her music on that show that brought her front and center for me.

Recover by Natasha Beddingfield is one of two songs on Strip me ( the other being the title track) that move me. This one is a reminder that no matter what life throws at you you can pick yourself up and move on.

The Cave by Mumford and Sons. A musical discovery that I hope to be hearing from for years to come. I find their music to be a sound that has been sorely missing in my life and I absolutely adore them!!

Till the world Ends by Britney Spears. I absolutely HATE Hold it against me but this song gives me hope. I am sure it will being played in clubs all over the world this spring.

Howling for you by The Black keys. The had my favorite video of last year with Tighten Up and this one may just be the best of this year. It is set up like a movie preview which honestly looks better than many real previews of this day. (and considering my current obsession with a certain wolf I love the reference)

Blow by Ke$ha.. My favorite guilty pleasures new music video includes a rainbow shoot out with James
Van der Beek in a room full of Unicorns. Cheeky good fun. Nuff said...

BOOKS.....

WITCHES!!!!
Between the story that I am currently writing there are two books of fiction that have caught my eye.  A discovery of Witches which is sitting in front of me as I type and Witches on the Road Tonight which is about a coven from my home state. I believe I will be seeing more books on the subject and since the newest season of TB will be focusing on Witches as well I think the wiccans will be heavily on my mind for a while.

Midnight :The last of the L.J Smith Vampire Diaries books. (There's a witch in here to)

The last two books have been a bit of a jumbled mess and I find I am annoyed at where the story is heading. I have heard rumors about the ending of this book and if they come to be I will feel betrayed by an Author who I have admired for 20 yrs. She was fired from the series earlier this year so I am not sure what if any part she has in the new series which starts coming out this fall...

MOVIES....
I hope that this movie is a success for Robert. If it is it will go a long way in helping him break out of the Edward mold which he seems to be wanting to shed more and more these days. He looks amazing in the trailer and seems to have great chemistry with Reese I just hope that comes through when watching the whole thing.

The return of one of my favorite movie franchises. I hope it is as smart and chilling as it's predecessors. I also hope those returning from the previous trilogy don't end up dead.. I have a feeling they might though. Talks of this being the beginning of a new trilogy make me SCREAM!!!

I love nature documentaries and when I saw the preview for this one I was awed, touched and amazed. It is of course about kitties so that is a prime selling factor and these big cats are beautiful creatures who's lives are endangered and who deserved to be saved. If this movie helps in any way then I will be pleased and will gladly support it!

ACCESSORIES.....

Spring/Summer must haves... I will be stalking these and quite possibly if I see you near them at a sale I will shank you for them....

The Kate Spade white cat shades. I don't usually wear white. In fact it is almost non existent in my wardrobe but these little beauties are a exception to the rule. I've tried them on several times. But am waiting for a deal to add them to my collection.

The Lucky Brand Jeans multi-strained metal flower accented necklace. Turquoise is a favorite stone and this piece looks rich and is well constructed. I love that the flowers and metal clasps give the piece a nice vintage feel.

The Sam Edleman, Exie studded thong flats are the shoe stalk of the summer. I LOVED the heels last fall but they are not an option for me so these little puppies give me the look and feel of those heels without the pain.
Heritage Weave Avery Hobo

Heritage Weave Jade Bag

Right now it is a toss up between these two Cole Haan handbags from the Heritage Weave collection. I fell in love with the black bag first but have growing fondness for the hobo as well. I simply love the richness of Cole Haan's colors and the buttery textures of his leathers. If I can get both (at a good deal) then is shall. His handbags are well crafted and hold up to continuous use.
